HBN Founder Bill Walsh will be joining the Passport Foundation as their new Executive Director in April 2022. He will succeed Janet Maughan, who led the Passport Foundation since its inception in 2008.
Bill founded Healthy Building Network in 2000 with the bold approach of leveraging the power of the market to create a safer, healthier and more just world. Over the years HBN became known for its deep research in the building materials space and grew to be a trusted advisor to various green building standards and product certifications, as well as many industry innovators. Bill was HBN’s Executive Director for 16 years, and since 2016 has served as Strategic Advisor to the CEO, Gina Ciganik.
“I could not be more thrilled for Bill and look forward to watching him apply his strategic, systems thinking, and justice-centered approach in his new role,” Gina said. “I am personally grateful for all the years of his mentorship, and his trust in me as I assumed the leadership of this amazing organization he founded. All HBN staff will miss the day-to-day interactions with Bill, though we are excited to work with him in his new position.”
“I am grateful for the opportunity I have had to work with and learn from all of the exceptional people who have been part of HBN over the years,” Bill said. “At the Passport Foundation I will be joining an organization that is highly effective in its mission and is an important partner to HBN and many other organizations that I admire. It feels like a natural evolution for all of us.”
Please join us in congratulating Bill on this exciting new opportunity! If you have any questions about the transition, please reach out to Gina Ciganik at gciganik@healthybuilding.net.
